Have plans next Memorial Day weekend? It may seem far away but for three days of music, it's well worth the planning. Summer Camp Festival is sure to be a great time and Phil Lesh will be there performing two sets! More artists are being added all the time, but you can look forward to some of the following: Al Grime, Action Bronson, Moe, Diplo, Umphrey's McGee and many others.
Are you a fan of Dark Star Orchestra? The Grateful Dead cover band is pretty popular, traveling and touring across the country and playing the Grateful Dead for all to hear. Hailing from Chicago, the band is "continuing the experience" of the Dead, and they are one of the most dedicated cover bands to have ever existed. In most concerts, the band even follows the Dead's set list song by song!
It is incredibly sad that we'll never get to see the Dead live again together, but many fans do enjoy Dead & Company tours. Mayer is no replacement for Garcia by any means but it's still enjoyable to hear the songs live. Then again, some fans say they'd rather hear a cover band! Ouch.
Dead & Company will not be playing in New Orleans after all, at least for the time being. John Mayer had an emergency surgery on Tuesday morning and is currently in recovery while the show is postponed. The singer had an appendectomy performed but he is in good spirits and it sounds like he is recovering well.
According to the band, all tickets already sold will be accepted for the rescheduled date, but you can also get refunds if you need to at the point of sale.
Have you checked out the Eyes of the World: Grateful Dead Photography 1965-1995 book yet? It's a coffee table book from Jay Blakesberg, Josh Baron and Graham Nash. The hardbound fine art collection is a must-have for Deadheads everywhere who want to remember moments of their favorite band over the years.
